About

Hi! I'm Ivar Clemens, a software engineer and team lead. I grew up in Boxtel, in the south of the Netherlands, but these days I live in Fellbach, just outside Stuttgart in Germany.

My route into engineering ran through biology and neuroscience first. Studying messy, complex natural systems turned out to be great training for building technical ones, and it still shapes how I approach problems today.

At work I lead a development team at a medium-sized company, and still write plenty of code myself. Over the years I've worked across the stack: front-end in TypeScript and React, back-end systems in PHP, C#, Java and Node.js, computer vision in Python/OpenCV/TensorFlow, plus the Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana and Sentry setups that keep it all running.

This site is where I write down things I learn along the way: usually about software and tooling, occasionally about running marathons or travelling by train.

Consulting

Through Clemens Holding, the Dutch company I founded in 2019 based back home in Boxtel, I also take on consultancy work for small and medium-sized businesses. If you need an experienced pair of hands on anything from architecture to automation, feel free to reach out.
